The Fort Point Story
For Paula David, the founding of Fort Point Growth Partners represents the passionate fulfillment of a dream.
During her many years at Fidelity, Paula would walk to the office from her home located along Fort Point Channel, off Boston Harbor. Without the hassle of a typical bumper-to-bumper commute, she would take advantage of the pleasant 15-minute stroll along the waterway, scenic even during the harshest winter conditions, to contemplate the workday ahead and the needs of her clients: entrepreneurial financial advisors, big and small, experienced or start-up, and located from coast to coast.
Reflecting on the challenge of managing a business while simultaneously trying to grow it, she came to realize that, for many advisors, simply receiving do-it-yourself guidance was just not enough. They did not have the time, resources, expertise, or inclination to create an effective marketing program on their own. They needed real hands-on, expert help in order to grow.
And so it was, as she paused alongside International Place, that Paula knew what her next step would be. For these office towers stood at the original site of Fort Point, which helped protect Boston during its colonial years. The hill, upon which the patriots would build their cannon fortifications, thrust outwards to the ocean’s edge, offering a prime overview of a harbor ripe for a British invasion during the War for Independence.
Looking upwards to the present day towers, Paula imagined that very Fort Point, right there where she stood, still present in spirit providing the defensive and offensive support the “founding fathers” needed during their own struggle for survival and growth.
Today, the actual Fort Point has faded into the history books; the hill on which it once stood leveled prior to the Civil War during the city’s expansion, its location now a collection of bustling intersections in Boston’s financial and seaport districts. But for Paula, Fort Point has meant more than a neighborhood and a walking path; it represents a history of hope, strength, and security. These are the qualities she brings, along with her 25 years’ experience in the financial and investment industry, to Fort Point Growth Partners.
Advisors are typically more focused on their clients’ needs than their own growth and development...that’s only natural. But to continue to assist their clients, advisors must get the consultation, collaboration, and execution they need to forge into the future. And that means the kind of solid strategic, marketing and brand development provided by Fort Point Growth Partners.
A commitment to children
There is another aspect of Fort Point Growth Partners which represents the fulfillment of a dream: Paula’s passionate commitment to channeling resources toward cures for children with heart conditions.
For the past several years, she has been a member of the Heart Council at Children’s Hospital Boston, and of the Children’s Circle of Care, which advances philanthropy for two dozen children’s hospitals throughout the U.S. and Canada. At the North American Leadership Conferences in Chicago, San Diego, Boston, and Washington, D.C., Paula has been an active participant in promoting patient care and ground-breaking medical research at these dedicated medical centers.
A portion of all Fort Point Growth Partners revenue goes to the advancement of children’s cardiac care.
